Our Story
Christa
Christa grew up in New York and moved to Connecticut in 2002. She is an Assistant Principal at American School for the Deaf. She loves craft beer, genealogy, true crime shows, and being Liam's and Finley's aunt. She especially enjoys traveling to new places and tasting their beer!
Sam
Sam grew up in Vermont and after college, lived all over the US for his job as a software contractor with Fast Enterprises, including CO, AL, ND, and OK. He moved to Connecticut in 2019. Sam loves playing golf, skiing, and dabbling in World of Warcraft. He has traveled all over the world!
Sam and Christa first met in June 2019....
According to Christa, Sam sat at her "regular" barstool at the Prospect Cafe where she frequently went for delicious beer and nachos. According to Sam, the seat was empty, soooo.... Their shared love of craft beer spurred the bartender, who regularly served as Christa's "wingwoman", to introduce them across the bar. Before parting ways, the two became friends on Untappd, the app for beer lovers. The next day, Sam asked Christa out to Hog River Brewing Company, where they had their first date and learned their parents lived 7 miles apart in rural Vermont! They went on one more date that summer then lost touch for a few months before reconnecting in October of that year and by October 26, they were officially a couple.
Once upon a COVID courtship....
There are few things that offer couples the opportunity to really get to know each other like lockdown! Though only a few months into dating, the pandemic served to give Sam and Christa the opportunity to see each other and, well, no one else! Though still living separately, Friday pizza take-out night became the norm as did cooking dinner together during the week. With few other distractions and many opportunities to talk, share, and learn about each other, the couple realized that aside from beer, they also had many shared interests and values, as well as a similar wry sense of humor. At the top of their list was their love for traveling.
Choosing each other....
Emerging from the pandemic isolation, Sam and Christa got to know each others' family and friends. The two planned trips to exciting locations near and far, and ultimately decided to embark upon the ultimate adventure together! 2022 was an exciting year - the couple traveled together to Colorado, Las Vegas, Iceland, and Ireland and wed in October 2022. Early in 2023, Sam and Christa purchased a home in West Hartford, CT where they merged their lives and homes, bringing Christa's cat, Cassiopeia, and Sam's dog, Molly, along for the ride!
